In 2011, Alisiana Isufaj made it to the semi-finals of The Voice Albania. It was the first time the show had been filmed in the country and the young starlet fought hard to earn a place in front of industry experts.
Now a few years on with experience and confidence under her belt, Alisiana is ready to show the UK what she is made of.
“I’m really excited about my album London Bridge, I’m working with a fantastic UK producer and feel so unbelievably lucky to be working such a gifted person.
Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a singer and a star. My parents moved from Albania to Italy when I was 5 years old and it was there that I started listening to pop music and finding myself as a performer.
My first experience in a recording studio was at the age of 12 when I worked with an artist called Francesca St Martin – it gave me a taste for much more so by 13 years old I was writing my first material.
Some years later I wanted to challenge myself and so entered The Voice of Albania. It was the first time that this was being aired in my birth country and I wanted so badly to be a part of it, I was so excited when I got through and worked so hard to show the judges just what I was made of
I made it through to the Semi-Finals and really loved my time on the show, hearing the advice from the professional judges filled me with confidence and inspiration to really make a go of doing music. After the show I was made quite a lot of offers but it would have meant moving from Italy back to Albania and also doing music in my native tongue. It was a hard decision to make but I decided not to move and instead to try making more music in English and eventually moved to London.
It’s the music of people like the Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls and Michael Jackson that inspired me to make music in English as that is what I listened to most when growing up. Now I really admire musicians like Adele, Leona Lewis, Maroon 5 and I absolutely love Beyonce!
London Bridge the album is very dear to me, not only because it’s my first release but because it has a few autobiographical songs on there about relationships, love, happiness, hurt, a whole range of things. I can’t wait for people to hear it and also hear me playing my songs live.”
